Karen Gingell

Karen is a largely self-taught artist. She has been drawing and painting throughout her life.
In addition, she has acquired more formal training by attending numerous fine & graphic art courses
both in New York at the New School & School of Visual Art and in Melbourne at various Taft colleges.
Dance, the human form and nature are her inspirations. Sometimes she enjoys combining all three
components, at other times a single flower or solitary figure encompasses the mood, energy or
fantasy that she is  trying to capture.
She also tries to inject a bit of humour into her work and hopes it raises a smile for the viewer.
Karen is an AmerAussie. Born and raised in New Jersey in the early 1950's, she has spent over a
third of her life living and working in Australia and South East Asia. Karen met her husband in
Hong Kong and now both spend their time between the US and Australia.
