Karen Gingell
Karen is a largely self-taught artist. She has been drawing and painting throughout her life. In addition, she has acquired more formal training by attending numerous fine & graphic art courses both in New York at the New School & School of Visual Art and in Melbourne at various Taft colleges. Dance, the human form and nature are her inspirations. Sometimes she enjoys combining all three components, at other times a single flower or solitary figure encompasses the mood, energy or fantasy that she is trying to capture. She also tries to inject a bit of humour into her work and hopes it raises a smile for the viewer. Karen is an AmerAussie. Born and raised in New Jersey in the early 1950's, she has spent over a third of her life living and working in Australia and South East Asia.
