 Regina Hona
Born in Melbourne, Australia I initially began my career as a Private Secretary after completing an Associate Diploma in Private Secretarial Practice at Caulfield Institute of Technology. I am married with two adult children and what started out as an interest in painting as a child and then taken up again soon after marriage, quickly grew into a burning desire to achieve more. My initial training was in classical tonal realism in oil and some ten years later I embraced my painting with a new intensity due to the discovery of pastels. I have gained instruction and guidance under notable artists such as Helga Ivanyi, Walter Magilton, June Woods, Shirley Straford, Malcolm Beattie and Maxwell Wilks. Although I am predominately known for my seascapes and landscapes, I am equally at home painting portraits, still life and other subjects. · I am a past President of the Pastel Society of Victoria. · Have won many major awards since 1999. · Held 4 solo exhibitions and been involved in several group exhibitions. · My paintings are in collections on 4 continents. · Have conducted several workshops, give demonstrations, and teach weekly painting classes in oil & pastel. · Volunteer & Assistant Curator for ‘Friends of Art’ for Very Special Kids charity. · My work has been printed in several issues of the Australian Artist Magazine and a feature article was published in the International Artist Magazine in December 2003.
