Vida Pearson Artist/Printmaker: Vida was born at Wonthaggi, Victoria in 1957. After finishing school she travelled extensively within Australia and overseas. After studying for 3 years at the North Adelaide School of Art majoring in printmaking and drawing, she moved with her partner -fine furniture artisan Fred Ross – onto a 5 acre bush block in central Victoria and commenced life as a professional artist. Vida has a very strong commitment to printmaking but also loves the delicacy of watercolour and pastel. Her subject matter is gleaned from extensive field trips both within Australia and from overseas destinations as varied as Iceland, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Russia, Mongolia and the Antarctic. Her love of flora and fauna is expressed in the many studies of plants, birds and animals that she has transformed into hand-coloured linocuts and watercolours over many years. Her work can be found in galleries throughout Australia. Vida has won over 100 prizes in art competitions – indicating the quality and commitment she gives to each piece of work. She exhibits regularly in group exhibitions and endeavours to have a solo exhibition every 2-3 years.
