Tony Pridham

Tony Pridham was born in Australia in 1964 and is one of Australian’s foremost bird painters and is internationally acclaimed as one of the best in the field.
His paintings are displayed in the world’s leading museums depicting “Bird Art”.  Included in this prestigious list is the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin (USA), home to the world’s premier collection. Tony’s painting, purchased in 2002, of three Vulturine Guinea fowl, is Australia’s only work included. He is also represented at Bennington Museum in Vermont, Hiram Blauvelt in New York, and The Natural World Museum in San Francisco, founded by private collector Richard V Smith, the museum is regarded as supremely important.
In 1991, at Tony’s first and only showing in London, the British Society of Animal Artists awarded him “Best New Artist”. In 1997 Tony was elected a member of the exclusive “Society of Animal Artist’s” in New York. In 2000, he received that Societies highest accolade, the Medal of Excellence”. This success was repeated in 2002.
Tony is a keen birdwatcher and amateur ornithologist and has worked on scientific papers for both the Golden-shouldered Parrot, and the Orange Bellied Parrot. His observational skills produce paintings that depict the true essence of the bird, or any creature, in its habitat and portray its individual behaviour. His paintings relate to the observer and the viewer is ‘captured’.
His work, naturally, is sought after by collectors worldwide and is hung in the most prestigious galleries around the globe and appears in the catalogues of the great Auction houses. His art is also featured in Australian and International publications and represented on Australian Stamps.
Tony’s own book "Grassfinches in Australia" is the most comprehensive scientific study of this group of birds. Tony travelled widely throughout Australia, seeing each in the wild and depicting them in their natural habitat.
The ‘Old Post Office Seymour’ is proud to introduce the art work of Tony Pridham at “2012 WildArt”.
