Jeff Gilmour CADETSHIP WITH WOMAN’S DAY (Melbourne Herald) as junior cadet-main job tea boy and water jar cleaner. Promoted to Australasian Post and Your Garden. Progressed to art director and about this time started freelance designing labels and swing tags for the rag trade. Also engaged by CN Meyers paper products as freelance bag and wrapping paper designer. Left employment at Herald & Weekly Times to become art director of News Ltd. Rupert Murdoch magazine section, New Idea and TV Week. Resigned News Ltd to become self employed freelance artist engaged full time for Melbourne Anglican newspaper as design production compositor and make up artist cartoonist and book designer. Moved to Mt Martha 1983 to become honorary park ranger of Joseph Harris scout park. Also kept up freelance work for Automotive Reviews Magazine as make up artist. Baptist Witness newspaper and still continue to do monthly cartoons for Anglican Newspaper. 1996 retired full time to take up painting; water color, pastels, oils and acrylics. 2000 took up pastel course under tutor Brian Armstrong.
