 Des McKenna

Des McKenna enjoys carving wood particularly river red gum into wildlife and other sculptures.
Taking early retirement in 1986 he devoted his retirement to the pursuit of excellence in his chosen field and what began as a hobby has become a full time occupation.
Demand for Des’s sculptures has spread beyond his own country and his sculptures are sought world wide.

Many of his major works are on public display in Melbourne giving continuing enjoyment to people of all ages. His wombat in the City Square on Swanson St is continually being cuddled by visitors to the city.

Des encourages people to touch and feel his sculptures believing art should be a “hands on” enjoyment not something to be viewed from afar.  Des and his loving wife Carmel are an insperation.
